All Letz vehicles have full comprehensive cover up to $2 million New Zealand dollars which covers our vehicle, third party vehicles and any property.

The standard insurance excess is NZD$3,000.00 plus GST for a multi-vehicle accident.  If a multi vehicle accident occurs while the car is on hire the maximium you are liable for is NZD$3,000.00 plus GST or the cost of repair, whichever is the lesser amount. 

The excess applies to damage to the vehicle or damage caused by the vehicle.  This covers damage to the rental car, third party vehicles and property up to the value of NZD$2,000,000.00.

Regardless of who is at fault, the excess must be paid at the time of the accident and if a third party insurance company repays us the excess then this is refunded to you at that time.

Our options to reduce the excess are as follows:

Option 1 - Bronze Cover

• Automatically included with Hire

• Full comprehensive cover up to $2 Million dollars with an insurance excess of
  $3,000.00 + GST (deductible)

• Additional Windscreen and Tyre cover available at $6.90 per day
  

Option 2 – Silver Cover

• $16.10 per day for hires over 3 days (hires less than 3 days can still take cover with a 3 day minimum premium).  Full comprehensive cover up to $2 Million dollars with an insurance excess of $800.00 + GST (deductible)

• Additional WINDSCREEN & TYRE cover available at $6.90 per day

• For drivers under the age of 25yrs the excess can be lowered down to $1,500.00 + GST

Option 3 – Gold Cover

• $23.00 per day for hires over 3 days (not available to hires less than 3 days)

• Full comprehensive cover up to $2 Million dollars with an insurance excess of $200.00 + GST (deductible)

• This includes Windscreen and Tyre cover with a Nill Excess

• For drivers under the age of 25yrs the excess can be lowered down to $750.00 + GST

Letz strongly recommends that all customers take the excess reduction options to minimize excess / deductible exposure and travel with peace of mind.

In New Zealand Motor Vehicle Insurance is NOT compulsory so you could be liable for damage done by an uninsured driver if you are not fully protected.

If you have paid for excess reduction insurance with an online agency please note that this covers the excess for the rental car only not for any other vehicle involved or property that has been damaged.  Our insurance will cover you for all other vehicles and property.

NOTE: On all vehicles the insurance excess on a Single Vehicle Accident remains $5,000.00 + GST

The Hirer must be 21yrs or over and have a full valid drivers licence (we cannot hire to someone on a restricted or learners licence).

Hirers between the ages of 21 and 25 years can reduce their excess as per the options described above.

Credit card details are required to secure a booking, but no charge is made until you uplift your rental vehicle.

Payment is taken in full upon collection.

If you do not have a credit card but you do have a Visa or MasterCard Debit card then you can hire a car but we will need to take a bond of $2,000.00.  This bond will be charged against the card on pick up of the car and upon safe and timely return of the vehicle this will be refunded.

Alternatively you can use a family member’s or a friend’s card, in which case a credit card authorisation form must be signed by the owner of the card as an authorisation for us to use that particular card, we will require another form of ID for the credit card holder when arranging this.
