Hold old do I have to be to hire a vehicle?
You need to be 21 years or older to hire a car from Letz as long as you have a current, valid full driver’s license for the class of vehicle being hired.
Do you hire to drivers with restricted or learner’s licence’s?
No, unfortunately our insurance only covers drivers on a current, full licence.
Do you have after hours pick up and drop off facilities?
Yes we do, there is an extra cost to cover the use of third party agent services. Please contact us to make suitable arrangements.
What do I need to bring when I pick up the vehicle?
Your valid drivers licence, a Visa or Mastercard credit card in the name of the hirer with a large enough limit to cover the insurance excess, your booking reference and if there are any additional drivers they need to be present and provide their valid drivers licences.
I’m running late to drop off the vehicle, what do I do?
Give us a call, its all about communication. We understand that things get delayed sometimes, so we allow a one hour window where you won’t be charged extra. After the one hour grace period we charge $20 per hour up to the single day rate and then the single day hire rate for each late day thereafter.
What happens if I return my vehicle early?
There is no refund for unused hire days if you return your vehicle early.
Do you charge for additional drivers?
The main driver is included in your rental pricing but any additional drivers are a one off $35 fee.
Do you charge for kilometres driven?
Only if the hire is for one to two days. We give 200km’s free and then the balance is charged at .25c per kilometre. Any hires three days and over are unlimited.
I don’t have a credit card, can I still hire a vehicle?
Yes, of course. We will then take bond of between $1,500 - $2,000 depending on the size/type of vehicle which will be refunded to you when the vehicle is returned in the same condition and at the same fuel level that you pick it up in.
Can we smoke in your vehicle?
No, all our vehicles are non smoking and this includes vaporisers, e-cigarettes, or any other form of smoking or illegal substances. Any customer returning a vehicle that has been smoked in will be charged a cleaning fee up to a maximum of $200.
Do you offer one way hires?
Yes, but only between Auckland and Christchurch. We charge a one way fee to cover our relocation costs.
Do you allow your vehicles to travel between the islands?
Yes we do, in fact we encourage it. New Zealand is a beautiful country and you don’t want to miss out on seeing any of it!
Can I drive the vehicle off road or on the beach?
No, your insurance is null and void if you do. When you get to Ninety Mile Beach and you see all the 4WD’s driving along it, RESIST the temptation and do not drive on the beach, any beach!
What happens if I return my vehicle dirty?
Look, we understand its summer/winter and the lure of the beach/snow/mud is strong but wipe your feet before you get into the car and be respectful of the cleaners that have to groom when you return. Any hirer returning a car considered to be excessively dirty will be charged up to a maximum of $200 for the extra cleaning required.
